Chrissy RutheRFORD

Talent & Social, Harper's Bazaar

Chrissy Rutherford is the Special Projects Director of Talent & Social at HarpersBazaar.com. She runs Bazaar's Instagram account, with 4.1 million followers and counting, it is currently ranked as one of the top 5 magazine brand's on the platform. She also books top models, influencers and other notables for video and contributing features, while still staying true to her fashion editor roots. Her love for fashion first flourished during two summer internships in the fashion closet at Bazaar. When she's not attending industry events or interviewing her favorite models of the moment, she spends time exploring what’s new in music, culture, health and wellness.

Afua Osei

Co-founder of She Leads Africa 

Afua Osei is a media entrepreneur, investor and Co-Founder of She Leads Africa, the #1 media company for millennial African women.  SLA reaches more than 650,000 women across 30+ countries and counts brands such as L'Oreal, Samsung, Estee Lauder, Nestle, Unilever and Google as clients. She is an expert in creating digital content and live experiences that impact a new generation of smart, ambitious women. Osei was born and raised in the Washington, DC area and moved to Lagos, Nigeria in 2013. She has a unique viewpoint from both the US and the continent and how we can expand linkages and business opportunities between the two.

 

 

kIMBERLY SMITH

Lawyer/ CEO And Founder Of Marjani Beauty

As an Ivy League trained attorney, Kimberly advised companies navigating the complex regulatory world of the health care industry, but growing up, Kimberly always had a passion for fashion and beauty. “I can remember being one of the few girls who always wore heels and a full face of make up to class on my college campus,” says Kimberly. “Expressing myself through different hairstyles, make-up, and fashion, has always been fun for me.”

When she’s not navigating the health care industry, Kimberly is an avid traveler. “When I’m on a trip I love picking up different finds from across the globe,” says Kimberly. “Whether it’s argan oil from Morocco, ayurvedic oils from India or cocoa butter from Costa Rica, I’m a natural curator of beauty products.”


This is what Marjani is about.  “We aim to not just be a retailer, but a community where shopping is a fun, memorable experience.  Bringing international beauty and cosmetic products to the local consumer, and using this platform to empower brown girls, across nationalities, age, hair textures and shades to embrace and claim their beauty.” 


Kimberly is originally from Philadelphia, PA, but now calls the District of Columbia home. She attended Penn State and University of Pennsylvania Law School, and is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.


DONYE  TAYLOR

Co-founder + Creative Director of The Digital Footprint

Donye is a multi-faceted creative who specializes in digital content creation, marketing strategy, and ideation. She strives to be a catalyst for the creative community, all while creating compelling and culturally relevant content that generates social currency and real currency for brands . As the Co-founder + Creative Director of The Digital Footprint, Donye has strategized and executed projects for several brands including Capital One, New Balance, Courvoirsier, and Nike. When it comes to culture, she is an expert. She has spoken on panels and received awards from the NAACP and the United States Black Caucus for her impact and efforts on the creative community.

Of course, no brunch is complete without the booze, so enjoy unlimited brunch beverages from Chambord and Korbel for the full 90 minute brunch portion. This is a time to mix and mingle, but don't forget to enjoy your food! Also be sure to head over to our photo booth to snap some instagrammable shots!
